Welcome! I have been teaching piano full-time for over 25 years in the South Bay Area. I teach children ages 6 and up, teens, and adults from the Beginner to the Advanced level. My piano teaching studio is located at SJG School of Music in the Campbell Community Center,

1 W Campbell Ave.  Room K59.

My two main objectives in piano teaching are to develop a passion for music and the ability to read music at whatever level the student is able to progress to. I believe learning to play music is about exploring and having fun and I want to help each child reach their own goals and capabilities. I have a patient and gentle personality and teach in a contemporary style.

Lesson rates are $45 per 30 minute lesson ($180 per month, per student). The first lesson is a free 30 minute trial lesson to see if my teaching style and personality is a good fit for you. I will make a list of new books for you to purchase at the end of the lesson. If your child is age 6 it may be necessary that a parent be in the lesson each week to help guide them both in the lesson and at home. Piano lessons are 30 minutes once a week at the same time/day. The student will need a piano or a keyboard at home to practice on 20 minutes each day, five days a week.

I teach the Piano Adventures curriculum which provides an excellent training using a Lesson book, theory and performance book in 8 progressive levels. In a typical 30 minute lesson I will go over assigned songs, discuss the new concepts of one or two new songs, have the child try to play the new songs, assign a theory page, and also review pieces they have learned. I also supplement with songs that the child enjoys –any songs or styles that they want to play.

I also hold a recital every year at a local church for students to play songs for their parents displaying their progress and gaining valuable performance experience. Beginner students can perform in the recital in their second year of lessons.
